Oleksandr Volodymyrovych Potii is a leading Ukrainian expert in cybersecurity, information protection, and cryptography. He earned a doctorate in technical sciences and is a professor. Since 2024, he has led the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine.
Potii served more than 25 years in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In 2022, he was awarded the military rank of brigadier general.
Potii has over two decades of experience in academia and research. He has authored more than 130 scientific articles, textbooks, and monographs.
He has held teaching and research positions at the Kharkiv Air Force University, Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics, V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, and the National Aerospace University “Kharkiv Aviation Institute.” In addition to teaching, he contributed to the development of academic disciplines, educational and professional programs, and qualification frameworks, and participated in various international projects.
During his tenure at JSC “Institute of Information Technologies” as Deputy Chief Designer, Potii was involved in the design and support of integrated information protection systems for the IT infrastructure of Naftogaz of Ukraine, the automated control systems of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, banking technologies, and the information systems of other institutions and agencies. He also worked on the development of cryptographic protection tools and systems.
Starting in 2020, he served as Deputy Head of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine, overseeing several strategic areas. In November 2024, he was appointed its Head.
