Electronic Warfare Coalition for Ukraine Expands With Five New Members

The international Electronic Warfare (EW) Coalition, established to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities, is expanding: Belgium, Sweden, Italy, Turkey, and Estonia have joined the initiative.
The announcement was made by Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov in his Facebook on June 5.
The new members signed an annex to the Letter of Intent during the latest meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group. Additionally, Sweden has taken on a leadership role, becoming co-chair of the coalition alongside Germany.

The EW Coalition was launched in April 2024 at the initiative of Ukraine, Germany, and eight other partner nations. Accordding to Minister of Defense, Germany has already introduced a financial mechanism to facilitate the prompt procurement and delivery of EW equipment and services to Ukraine’s Armed Forces as part of international military assistance.
“Electronic warfare is one of the key capabilities in modern warfare, enabling forces to destroy, jam, and stay one step ahead of the enemy. We expect even more partners to join this coalition soon.,” Umerov stated.
The minister also thanked Germany for its leadership and consistent support: “A strong coalition means a stronger Ukraine and Europe.”
Earlier, Sweden will contribute €50 million (approximately $54 million) to two major NATO initiatives supporting Ukraine’s defense — the NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine program and the Comprehensive Assistance Package.
