Peskov also noted that Moscow expects both Ukrainian and Russian draft memorandums to be discussed during a potential second round of negotiations in Istanbul. However, he clarified that Russia will not disclose the contents of its draft memorandum.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that the Russian Federation has proposed holding a second round of ceasefire negotiations with Ukraine in Istanbul on Monday, June 2. Speaking to TASS on May 28, Lavrov confirmed that Russia has prepared a memorandum outlining its interpretation of the “root causes” of the war and is prepared to present it to Ukrainian representatives. The Russian delegation would be led by Vladimir Medinsky.
Lavrov also reiterated that Russia will not pursue negotiations in Switzerland or the Vatican, venues supported by Western nations, and has yet to present a formal ceasefire proposal to Ukraine. Peskov clarified that the contents of the Russian draft memorandum will not be made public.
