Ukrainian authorities have ordered the mandatory evacuation of residents from 11 additional settlements in the Sumy region due to the ongoing threat to civilian lives from continued Russian shelling.

This was reported by the Sumy Regional Military Administration on May 31.

Among the affected villages: Horobivka, Shtanivka, Voronivka, Yanchenky, Tsymbalivka, Shkurativka, Krovne, Mykolaivka, Rudnivka, Spaske, and Kapytanivka.

Authorities have pledged to provide transport, humanitarian aid, temporary accommodation, and social support to all those in need.

“We urge residents not to delay their decision to evacuate. Remaining in a high-risk zone poses a direct threat to your life and health,” the administration wrote.

On May 27, it was confirmed that Russia has taken control of several villages in Ukraine’s northern Sumy region as it presses forward with its stated goal of creating a “buffer zone” along the border.
