Ukrainian FM Sybiha Meets US Secretary Rubio and Senator Graham Ahead of Key Peace Talks in Türkiye

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha met with US counterpart Marco Rubio and Senator Lindsey Graham in Antalya on May 14, ahead of direct talks between Ukraine and Russia in Türkiye.
Sybiha shared details of the meeting on his account on X, stating that he outlined President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s vision for peace efforts and coordinated positions ahead of the negotiations.
“We discussed in detail the logic of further steps and shared our approaches,” Sybiha wrote.
Sybiha emphasized that it is now critical for Russia to reciprocate Ukraine’s constructive steps toward peace.
“So far, it has not. Moscow must understand that rejecting peace comes at a cost,” the Minister concluded.

On May 15, Ukrainian and Russian delegations are expected to meet in Istanbul, in what could become a pivotal moment in the ongoing full-scale war.
The talks would mark the first direct negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow since the spring of 2022, when initial ceasefire efforts broke down.
Zelenskyy has confirmed his participation and renewed his call for a ceasefire ahead of the meeting. However, it was reported that Russian leader Vladimir Putin was not on Russia’s delegation for the upcoming negotiations.
At the same time, Clash reported, citing a US official, that US President Donald Trump will also not attend the upcoming Russia-Ukraine peace talks.
