Polish Armed Forces will be equipped with “Warmate” loitering munitions, combat drones that have proven highly effective in Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression, the Polish Ministry of National Defense has announced, on May 15.

Poland’s Armament Agency signed a long-term framework agreement with the manufacturer of Warmate drones. The deal, set to run through 2035, includes the planned delivery of approximately 1,000 drone systems for the Polish military.

"Today we signed a contract for the purchase of loitering munitions that performed their tasks absolutely perfectly in Ukraine," commented Poland's Deputy Minister of Defense Paweł Bejda.

Warmate drones are designed to detect and eliminate lightly armored vehicles or enemy personnel, depending on the type of warhead. Highly versatile, they can operate as standalone portable systems or be integrated into combat vehicles. The drones feature automated targeting modules to assist operators in striking with precision.

At the signing ceremony, Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz highlighted that Poland is actively incorporating Ukraine’s wartime experience into the modernization of its armed forces.

Earlier, Polish defense company Advanced Protection Systems had integrated Ukrainian-made acoustic sensors into its SKYctrl anti-drone system. Designed to detect, track, and neutralize hostile unmanned aerial vehicles, the SKYctrl system now benefits from enhanced capabilities thanks to this cross-border collaboration. Highly adaptable, the system can be customized with a range of configurations to meet specific operational needs.
